Hello folks!

I personally have a lot of suggestions, and we have a lot of creative forces around the community here at present. I've decided to suggest, in the efforts to preserve Everlasting Empathy's sanity. that we standardize suggestions. This will help in the following ways:

  1. Make it easier for the Development Team to track suggestions and consider them for implementation
  2. Make it easier for the community to see if their suggestion has already been made by someone else
  3. Make it easier for people to read previous suggestions, including the suggesters themselves, to see if their suggestion was implemented, or, if there were some problems with implementation of their particular suggestion.

Please read the following carefully. These suggestion guidelines have been adapted from [BT]Banaan's suggestion template at http://fiesta.gamigo.com/eu/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=46517

In this thread we'll explain how to make suggestions. We expect everybody to stick to this method. If you don't use this method your suggestion won't be discussed and/or forwarded until you use the correct format.
There are a few steps you have to keep in mind:

Before you make a new suggestion:

  • Check if your suggestion has been made by another player already.
Try to browse the forum to see if someone already suggested the same idea. If you indeed find a suggestion like yours, you can always bump it to bring it to our attention once more.
  • Please do not post details about exploitable bugs and glitches!
Details regarding the discovery of exploitable in-game issues should be sent as a Private Message developers, as per the forum rules.
  • Please don't be afraid of suggesting!
We are interested in hearing anything you can come up with that would add to our server! Though these policies may make posting suggestions a little more organized, please take some time and make yourself heard!

Making a New Suggestion – Title

It's very important to use a title which sums up pretty much your entire suggestion. This will allow the necessary people to understand what parts of the game you are interested in changing, before reading your suggestion, and prevent other players from making the same suggestion you make. A suggestion title should have 3 different parts all separated by a " - "

First part: Category

There are 4 options for this part:

  • New Idea: New content ideas for Thessir
  • Revision: Reworking or adding to existing content
  • Forum: Forum related
  • Wiki: Thessir Wiki related.

Second part: Subcategory

New Ideas and Revisions should address the aspect of the game they intend to modify. These should be large categories so that the developers know what kind of change you discuss in your post:

  • Mechanics: This subcategory contains changes to classes/feats/skills/crafting/exp/spells et cetra.
  • Content: This suggestion would address "things you can point at" in the game. A person, place, inventory item, area, et cetra
  • Story: Suggestions about the how current/historic plots and story lines may unfold, if there is an issue with confusion
  • Misc: All other In Game related suggestions not regarding forums, wiki, haks, et cetra.

Third part: Short Description

Give a short but detailed description in this part. This should summarize the intent of the suggestion, without being too long. Please choose your wording carefully, a good description will make it easy to understand what you are asking for before someone reads the rest of your post.

Title Examples:

  • New Idea - Content - Streetlights in Morrowborn
  • Revision - Mechanics - Remove Called Shot Cooldown

Suggestion Content

Your post should consider what exactly you are looking to add to the server, along with reasons why, and if applicable, how you think it could be accomplished. Please consider a few things:

  • Thessir is a highly modified server, and not only are there a lot of changes from stock NWN mechanics, but, we are continually adding new features and custom systems! Please be considerate of the voluntary nature of Thessir's developers, and never make demands in your suggestion.
  • Thessir is also a community composed of many different players with all different backgrounds. While some people may prefer certain styles of gameplay over others, please keep an open mind.
  • Thessir already has a lot of changes which could be considered "fixes" to the game's default behavior. If you feel these changes were made erroneously, please delicately explain your perspective on the situation, and provide a clear logical argument towards further adjustment. The development team has a strong grasp of the game's mechanics from both player and developer sides of many large and small custom servers, it is likely that such changes were carefully considered before their implementation.

Though Thessir wouldn't be considered a democracy, it may help to add a poll with clear question and next answer options. This may let the development team consider your suggestion in regards to the interests of the player base.

Consider the following poll options:

  1. Yes: Use this when you 100% support the suggestion.
  2. Maybe: Use this when you like the idea, but you would change some things about it. If you use this option we'd like to ask to write your edit/changes in a reply on the thread.
  3. No: Use this when you don't like the suggestion.

Lastly, please make all attempts at providing an alternative. "This is bad. Fix it" isn't a suggestion, its just a complaint. We're looking at moving forward with the server, and welcome ideas as towards how best to do so. If you would like to adjust a part of the server to provide further enjoyment for yourself and others, please tell us what you have in mind, but, posts resembling "I don't like this server" because of one reason or another aren't beneficial to the development process unless you provide alternatives to the aspects causing you displeasure.
