FEAT/ABILITY/SKILL MECHANICS


Shields:

  • Tower Shields are only able to be equipped if you have atleast: 3 levels in Fighter, 1 level in Dwarven Defender, or 5 levels in either Paladin or Blackguard.
  • Tower Shields also reduce AB by 2 points while equipped.

Weapons:

  • No weapons require Proficiencies anymore. Instead, if you don't have the proficiency required for that weapon, it will simply apply an AB penalty.
  • Magic Staves can no longer be dual-wielded with shields. They can still be wielded by smaller races. Instead, you might see mainhand "totems" or "scepters" that can be wielded with offhand weapons, but they may not be as powerful as staves or serve a different purpose entirely.
  • Everyone gets Weapon Finesse for free, for the purpose of sensibility.
  • Quarterstaves, nunchakus, katars, shurikens, and wind-fire wheels are all monk weapons. (Still in need of testing.)
  • Quarterstaves are considered double-weapons, and can be dual-wielded.
  • Rapid Shot works with crossbows.

Skills:

  • You may only have up to 4 points saved each time you level up. You will need to spend any excess in order to continue leveling.
  • Most (or all, I can't really confirm at the moment) classes get social skills as "class skills", that being Persuade, Bluff, Intimidate.
  • Most classes also get Listen/Spot as a Class Skill, since these aren't class-specific things.
  • Pickpocket is enabled, but has a cooldown of 15 minutes for the person being stolen from. There is also a weight limit of 1.5 pounds and a maximum gold value limit of 1000 gold (prone to change). Otherwise, nothing else is changed.

Activate Feats:

  • Knockdown, Disarm, Called Shot, and Stunning Fist have a 6 second cooldown between uses.
  • Stealth Mode has a 6 second cooldown. HIPS remains unchanged from the default game, however, but the stealth mode cooldown counts for it.
  • Counter-spelling is enabled, and has a few hotfixes to try and prevent bugging.

Parry:

  • You gain AC based on your Parry skill while wielding weapons that would be considered "parry-compatible" in your main hand. Some weapons grant more bonuses than others based on your Parry, but the standard is 1 AC / 5 Parry. Small shields, or Improved Two-Weapon Fighting when using an offhand weapon that is also parry-compatible increases this further by 2.

General Feats:

  • Artist allows the character to apply their Charisma bonus to AB. If their Charisma modifier is higher than their Dexterity modifier, it will utilize their Charisma modifier instead. The bonus itself cannot exceed how many Bard levels they have.
  • Silver Palm increases starting gold. In addition, the character with this feat is naturally richer than most, and gains a small amount of gold every time they level up.

The following weapons are now finessable:

  • Katana
  • Quarterstaff
  • Whip
  • Two-Bladed Sword
  • Double-Scimitar
  • Longsword
  • Scimitar
  • Falchion
  • Halberd
  • Spear
